ADD/ADHD
Resources
I have done some research on ADD/ADHD
because I have been diagnosed with ADHD, as well as my son.
I also used much of this information for a project in
graduate school in a course about Special Needs Children. I
would like to share the information that was most helpful to
me. I wrote a paper
about ADD/ADHD which includes some local contacts for those
of you who live here in the Grand Strand area, and some
books that have been recommended to me.
ADD/ADHD -
Alternatives in the
Classroom
Thomas Armstrong, argues that
instead of looking at students who carry the
ADD/ADHD label as having a "deficit," we should
consider a more holistic view that validates these
learners for who they are and includes teaching to
their multiple intelligences, learning styles, and
other brain-friendly approaches.

Driven to Distraction :
Recognizing and Coping With Attention Deficit
Disorder from Childhood Through Adulthood
Through vivid stories of the
experiences of their patients (both adults and
children), Drs. Hallowell and Ratey show the varied
forms ADD takes from the hyperactive search for
high stimulation to the floating inattention of
daydreaming
