Author James C. Michael

Cats are generally known for thier docility and mildness of manner, unscathed by anything in the inane world that surrounds them. SASHA is the exception to that rule. Her devotion and loyalty to her "adopted" family brings out the beast within as she battles to save the lives of her steadfast but very young companion , Angel, and the newborn child that her family has just acquired. The story is, of course, farcical but entertaining in its essence.

Rachel Nevarwas an up and coming Assistant DA in a midsized town in Wisconsin had a boyfriend who loved her dearly and everything could not have been better in her life............ until the twin sister she never even knew she had came to visit.... and take over her life, her world, everything. But she is almost thwarted by the town's lunatic, on trial for a heinous crime that he most likely did commit, yet he had enough cognance to see the truth behind the twin's deceitful demeanor. The plot winds and twists until the very end, which contains a twist of its own.

The scene is set in a small bayou townlet in Louisiana, where a new house that was inherited by the granddaughter of an eccentric old lady seems to take on a life of its own, with unexplainable noises and "moan-creaks" that all but drive the new occupants mad. The secret of the house lies within an old trunk in the attic, the former possession of a disgruntled, off-broadway actor. Curious deaths abound as the owners of the house try to unravel the mystery of the sinister "moan-creaks".

Imagine moving to a new town, a new job and discovering that you had already been there for a couple of weeks, buit it wasn't really you........yet it was? Confusing? Not half as confusing as it was to one semi-itinerant printer as he tries to unravel the mystery of practically everyone in town knowing him, despite the fact that he had just shown up in the tiny burg that very day!!!!! This conundrum is complicated by a rathscallion named Philly Barton, a no goodnik with nothing but malevolent intentions towards Nick and the new love of his life, Eve.

Imagine that it is the middle of the nineteenth century. Imagine that you are in the upper United Kingdom. Then, imagine that you have just fallen instantaneously, and madly in love with a woman you know you can never have because somehow she's linked to a series of brutal and gruesome murders. Then, follow the intrigue as the trail leads ultimately to one conclusion; that the woman of your fantasies is the one responsible for those hideous crimes against mankind, only to find out there's more to the story than meets the eye.

A TRILOGY

These are three short stories that lend a feeling of the macabre to everyday life and people, told from their point of view and expounding upon their innermost feelings and thought. Two are about ghostly apparitions and of two men's struggles to deal with and escape them and the third is an exercise in despair, with the character having to come to grips with his own "immortality."

The author of these stories of the macabre, has lived out most of his life in a small coal mining community in the southern Appalachians, where he now resides atop a beauteous mountain, above and away from the hum-drum of everyday life. There, with his five dogs, four cats and two goldfish is where the web that he spins is formed, nurtured and allowed to grow into the spellbinding tales such as the one presented here. Although his style and the way he composes his pieces are a bit out of the ordinary, never knowing what will happen in the next chapter until it flows with a will of its own from the tips of his fingers, he manages to thread the story together with ease and leave you wanting more at the end of each chapter.
